Horizontal Center Charts

The ‘H’ is the next element in horizontal center charts and it is the vertical center of the line. It may have one vertical column and a horizontal column or several columns of varying widths but is always connected to the ‘H’.

While a central part of the line is great for writing, for precise drawings and reference the ‘H’ is the best. It is important to note that while the ‘H’ is always connected to the horizontal center line the center point is never at the center of the lines. The center is always somewhere in the center line of the chart.

The vertical center of the line is only referred to when drawing certain figures in the chart. It is there as an anchor point to which the line should rest, but is never directly on the center. A key can be used to center a figure and show it as having its center at the center of the chart.

The ‘L’ is the line to the left of the ‘H’. The center of the line can be located anywhere on the chart’s line, but the average is located at the bottom of the line. It is important to note that this center is not on the line, but is at the bottom of the line and the ‘L’ should not be considered a center. When using a key to center a figure it is best to do it from the bottom and the line is used to show that the figure is off the line.

The ‘R’ is the line to the right of the ‘H’. The center of the line can be located anywhere on the chart’s line, but the average is located at the top of the line. Again, a key can be used to center a figure and show it as having its center at the top of the chart.

The ‘G’ is the line up from the ‘R’. The center of the line can be located anywhere on the chart’s line, but the average is located at the bottom of the line. Again, a key can be used to center a figure and show it as having its center at the bottom of the chart.

The ‘J’ is the line down from the ‘H’. The center of the line can be located anywhere on the chart’s line, but the average is located at the top of the line.

By knowing where the ‘L’, ‘R’, ‘G’J’ is located you can use them to draw all the horizontal center charts on your charts. There are different methods for drawing the ‘L’, ‘R’, ‘G’J’ and when you are drawing a chart remember that these are the main points of the chart.
